🔗 Share this article The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons. Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, not long after, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. In an era often marked by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and helped it become a surprise hit. A Major Commitment On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters. "I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who welcomed the series and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future." Executive Acclaim The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky style. "All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Different Kind of Comedy Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about following this lovable family navigate their everyday routines. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to evolve comedy past its prevailing layer of irony. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts. “We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.” What Comes Next Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially be part of that comedic shift. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
