Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with results like these.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
